Vacation at Chikhaldara, Amravati

C hikhaldara is the place for you if you wish to get away from the maddening chaos of our cities. Part icularly so, if you enjoy solitude with so me history and greenery thrown in. One additional motivation would be that your mobile would be 'switched o ff ' for most callers, but would be available to you with some coaxing!! I had decided on writing  this blog before my visit considering the scanty information a vailable on the intern et regarding the place. So, here I am.  Chikaldara at 1118 m AMSL is supposedly the only Hill Station in Amravati and is located 230 km from Nagpur. The route from Nagpur is via Amravati , Paratwara and on to Chikhaldara. The road till Amra vati is sheer bliss, okay till Paratwara and manageable thereafter. Vacation at Pachmarhi

Went on a four da y trip to Pachmarhi Ex-Nagpur over the last weekend. Pachmarhi is at a distance of around 255 km from Nag pur. The route is via Saoner (on the NH to Bhopal), Sauser, Ramakona, Chindwara, Parasia, Tamia, Matkuli and finally Pachmarhi (pronounced Pachmadhi and Pachmarie by the saabs!). We d eparted by car in the morning at around 0840 and reached Pachmarhi at 1530 with stops on the way for lunch and to stretch our legs. The road upto Chindwara is a dream. The road thereafter is getting broadened at places, thereby giving you some bumps. The 'ghat' section at Tamia is pre tty bad and calls for really slow driving, if you care for your c ar! The road from Matkuli to Pachmarhi ('Ghats' once again) ha ve been freshly laid and are in great shape. Therefore, but for the 50 km stretch close to Tamia, the roads are in great shape.
